Vocal music is an especially powerful form of communication that can encourage a better understanding of the struggles and achievements that define people and can develop values that sustain people in life’s experiences. It has a unique power to create community. Throughout its rich cultural history and directly because of its melding of poetry and music, vocal music has had a place in all celebrations of life - to herald new life, mourn the passing of life, mark holidays, and to explore the human condition.

End-of-year Appeal
Dear Friends – Now more than ever, we need your help to keep The Phoenix Quartet alive. As a non-profit, all donations go directly towards services – we don’t make a profit and we pay our performers minimally for the time, commitment, heart and soul that they give for the enjoyment of their audiences. Your donation, fully tax-deductible, is vital to our continued success. Please be as generous as you can in supporting The Phoenix Quartet as we continue to bring our music to appreciative audiences. We are grateful for your past generosity and thank you in advance for your continuing support. Thank you!
The Coming Season
We continue to enjoy our ongoing relationship with composer and good friend Ted Wiprud. He and playwright Tom Dulack have put the finishing touches on the magnificent chamber opera they have written for us, My Last Duchess. The libretto, comprised of the poetry of Robert Browning, is set in 16th
century Italy at the high point of the sophisticated and alluring Italian madrigal. In Ted’s words, it is a 16th century story of love and death, told by a 19th century poet, set by a 21st century composer! We are so excited about this project and are planning a few workshop performances, leading towards a Fall 2010 premiere. More details will follow…
Our New Soprano
Over the years, we have had very talented and personable sopranos join the Phoenix family. This fall, as we found ourselves needing to fill that position again, we were very lucky to have many wonderful singers audition for us. As we move forward, we are delighted to introduce to you - Jennifer Greene. Please check out her bio on “The Performers” page and also take a visit to her website. We know you will enjoy the beautiful voice and sparkling personality she brings to the mix!
